My Story
South African born I moved to the UK as a child. We started off in one of the worst council estates in Bolton, definitely a culture shock. Both my parents worked incredibly hard to get out of there and to have a great life.

Going from living in a large house with grounds to a small house in Bolton, highlighted my sensitivity to my surroundings. Very quickly even as a child, I was driven to help improve our surroundings where ever I could (There aren't many kids that love going to B&Q with their parents at the weekend to pick paint and wallpaper.)

It took until my mid-twenties to figure out that interior design can be a career, I left my job as an estate agent and went back into education to get back into the creative life.

Whilst completing an Interior Architecture degree at Birmingham City University, I started taking on projects from whoever would let me. During my final year, I designed and project managed a back-to-brick renovation of a 5-bedroom detached property, which I was able to take on and completed within 6 months.

The day after I graduated I started filming the TV/Netflix TV show "Interior Design Masters" which was one of the best experiences of my life, and very much a baptism of fire. The show is still available on Netflix.

I then worked for a small design studio in the midlands and oversaw all the technical design elements for all projects.

Two years later I stepped out on my own and officially opened my own studio, I had been running projects along with working full-time for one year.

I have a very hands-on approach to design, I love being onsite meeting with the trades to make sure that all aspects of the design are executed properly. I have found that communication is king, designers end up being in responsible for everything but in physical control of very little. So our main power is communication and organisation.
